Today was beautiful. Sure, it was overcast and dreary looking, but the temperatures were perfect for a crisp, fall afternoon.

Little did I know, there was a 7.7 earthquake off of the coast of British Columbia, Canada last night. This meant while I was preparing my kids for our neighborhood’s Halloween Parade, my family out in Hawai’i was preparing themselves for a possible tsunami.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that Hurricane Sandy is hitting the coast of our beautiful state right now?

But the tsunami watch was cancelled…and it looks like Sandy is moving on without (too) much damage…well, at least to us here in Cary, NC. (We’re praying for you East Coast!)

I’m grateful today that my family is safe: here, near, and far.

I’m grateful that technology is such that we can all be given early notifications in order to help us prepare for these weather emergencies.

I’m grateful that my family can facebook, text, email, and call me to let me know that all is well…and comment on our Halloween pics:)

I’m grateful that no matter the miles, we are still together.

I’m grateful…again:)
