Who knew Cary could be so good at being scary?

You should already know about the  Reel-ly Scary Cary Film Series that started this week. If not, check out this post and note that you still have a chance to get your Spiderwick on and fishnet stockings pulled up for Rocky Horror.

The Town of Cary is also offering a ton of other activities for getting into the Halloween spirit.  (Yup folks- I just copied and pasted this from their website–I’m working on some Halloween ideas, but I thought you really, really, should know about this stuff):

Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary

(age 13 & up)

Join the Cary Players for a macabre walking tour of historic downtown Cary. Your tour guides will share spooky legends and tales of yesteryear, guaranteed to send a chill up your spine.

Downtown Harvest Day

Ashworth’s Village – Downtown Cary
Sponsored by the Heart of Cary Association

Bring the whole family for fall games, food, and live music by Tom Teachout throughout Ashworth Village from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. by the Heart of Cary Association. Activities to include Corn Hole, Candy Corn Toss, Witch Pitch, and more family fun games plus shopping at the local boutiques and art galleries in Ashworth Village. One child’s wristband for $3 allows you to play all afternoon, and then continue on to the Tricks and Treats Halloween Bash, with more games and story-time at Cary Elementary from 5-7 p.m, sponsored by the Cary Teen Council. Adults are free from 2p.m. – 5 p.m. for Downtown Harvest Day, and can purchase $1 adult wristbands (which includes hayride) for the Tricks and Treats Halloween Bash at either event that day.

Featuring a family-friendly carnival in THREE locations sponsored by Cary Teen Council. Not So Scary Storytelling, The Hey Brothers bluegrass band and trick-or-treating through Ashworth’s Village.

At Cary Elementary School:

Fees: Carnival admission $1, includes hayride to Ashworth’s Village for Trick or Treating at participating businesses

In Downtown Cary:

• 5 -7:30 p.m. Trick or Treating in Ashworth’s village
• 5:30-7:30 Hayride shuttle between Cary Elementary and Ashworth’s Village (ticket may be obtained at entrance for Tricks & Treats)

At Cary Arts Center:

            • 6-8 p.m. The Hey Brothers Bluegrass Band (outside between Cary Elementary and Cary Arts Center)
• 6-9 p.m. Fright School’s 8th annual Haunted House, $1 admission at the door

More Mysteries and Secrets: Exploring Cary-Area Cemeteries

There’s something mysterious about cemeteries. As we pass them, our thoughts begin to fly: Who rests there? What joys and sorrows surrounded their lives? Where are their families – with them, or far, far away? Join The Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel as they explore the mysteries and secrets held by local cemeteries, identifying the resting places of historic figures and bringing to light the more obscure facts and questions from both prominent and well hidden burial grounds in Cary and its outskirts. Safe-N-Sane Halloween Celebration
